A Little Pot Of

Kent beauty business thrives following cash prize from Her Biz. Platti and Paula, co-owners of ‘A Little Pot Of’ and Her Biz Winners 2019, provide little pots of loveliness (lip balms and body butter) that are produced using all-natural ingredients.

Sealed with the promise to aid anxiety and sleep, there’s more than meets the eye to these beauty products. Originally handmade by Paula after a serious illness of a family member, the brand rings true to its philosophy of good quality, ethical beauty.

It’s no surprise in the current climate the business is growing in popularity in the local community, as more people turn to natural remedies to aid sleepless nights and to restore a little bit of calm in their lives.

A Little Pot Of received £1000 towards start-up costs, as a winner of the popular women’s start-up programme in Maidstone. Consisting of a group of 10-12 women, the course delivered by Let’s Do Business Group and supported by NatWest is led by two expert business coaches, Lisa and Helena who venture across East Sussex and Kent to increase entrepreneurship and to break down the barriers between women and business, encouraging more people to follow their career aspirations.

From marketing, getting social media savvy, managing finances and finding premises to branding and rivalling competitors, the course aims to set participants up for success so they can turn their vision into a reality.

Her Biz is an amazing support programme for women looking to start a business. The information was hugely beneficial, and the positivity of the other people from the course really helped!

When asked how the business is doing during lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Platti commented, “‘A Little Pot Of’ is going very well, we have been selling online via Made in Ashford during lockdown. We have been asked to sell in a new venture in Lenham, taking us to 5 outlets in total. We have launched massage bars and spa pots, both selling very well and have two new products ready to launch.”

It was a pleasure to work with Platti, as well as an amazing group of talented women. Platti’s start-up is thriving and we’re glad we could provide the support needed to get Platti and Paula’s business off the ground.

Her Biz: What’s it all about?

While the UK is one of the best places in the world to grow a business, women are half as likely as men to be involved in starting one.

Only one in five small and medium-sized businesses are run by women – creating a significant pool of untapped entrepreneurial potential.

How do we break down these entrenched hierarchies? One solution is to empower women to start up their own business and be their own boss right from the start.

“Women should feel as comfortable, confident and inspired as men” - Lisa Young, Start Up Coach
