Ismini Phillips Studios

The Tonbridge-based studio offers Pilates classes fit-for-all, regardless of experience. Founder, Ismini Phillips has earned her status as a fitness expert from being a Pilates teacher for over ten years to the founder of her own studios, launched in early 2019 to deliver health and fitness solutions to the local community.

Made possible with a Growth Loan, the funding was used to cover the costs of refitting and refurbishing the premises to create a state-of-the-art Pilates studio offering rehabilitation exercises using Ismini and her skilled team’s wealth of expertise in the field.

Her business mentor who managed her Growth Loan application, Martin Menzes said, “It was a pleasure working with Ismini to help her raise the required funding to assist her ambition of setting up her first Pilates studio at premises in Tonbridge High Street. Throughout the process I found her to be highly knowledgeable and experienced within her given sector and her enthusiasm was unquestionable.”

As well as offering standard pilates and fitness classes, all bodies can benefit with Ismini’s specialised rehabilitation programmes. A qualified Pilates teacher, Back4Good practitioner, MS/neurological conditions and breast cancer exercise specialist running the Pink Ribbon programme, Ismini is also one of the UK’s four bootybarre Master Trainers after training in LA with award-winning author and internationally recognised fitness expert, Tracey Mallett in 2015. A trio of Pilates, dance and yoga, Booty Barre uses various techniques to strengthen the body, and ensures participants get the maximum health benefits whilst putting the fun back into working out.

Rehabilitation Programmes

Astoundingly, more than 80% of the adult population in the UK suffer with back pain and it is one of the most common reasons for people taking time off work, often linked to poor mental health. Back 4 Good is a Pilates programme designed to work on the muscles in the back and build core strength, open to anyone who experiences back pain.

The beauty of the programme is that it gives you skills you can use forever - you are able to unlock the exercises you have learned in sessions to continue to support your body to restore. Ismini has earned her Body Control Pilates Level 4 Low Back Pain certification, so she is able to advise on the management of these conditions.

Breast Cancer Rehabilitation

The Pink Ribbon Programme is dedicated to helping those affected by breast cancer rehabilitate and take control of their health again. Ismini is one of the very few specialists in Breast Cancer Exercise in the country and has undergone extensive training, dedicated to support people to become better equipped for a stronger, healthier life.

Pregnancy & Postnatal Pilates

The studio offers classes to help pregnant women and new mums have some much-needed me-time, for clearer mental clarity and relaxation in a friendly, well-equipped, state-of-the-art studios. Pilates offers a very safe way of exercising during pregnancy and offers the opportunity to continue into the third trimester. Postnatal pilates helps new mums to find techniques and ways to relax, focusing on body and mind, which can be often overlooked as a new parent.

Neurological Conditions

The exercises taught by Ismini help to improve movement by enabling new connections between the brain and the nervous system. Ismini has achieved hugely successful results for clients with advanced MS and has helped people with restricted movement to walk short distances. The calming practice can also relieve stress and give you a deep sense of relaxation, helping you to cope with the symptoms of neurological conditions.
