Portsonachan Hotel

On the Picturesque shores of Loch Awe, lies the Portsonachan Hotel which has been in operation for over 100 years. On the border of the strikingly beautiful Southside shore, Portsonachan Hotel boasts unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape.

The family run hotel approached Let’s Do Business Finance (LDBF) for funding to support their cash flow and expand their business during COVID-19. Despite it’s Scottish-base the hotel was able to access support through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) due to its head office being based in The East of England.

Let’s Do Business Finance managed our Government Loan, and the experience was totally brilliant. Would recommend to anyone looking for financial support through the pandemic.
— David, Hotel Owner

The owners were in the process of a capital investment programme to further upgrade their luxurious lodges when COVID-19 impacted upon the hospitality sector. LDBF were able to work with the owners to understand the growth and capital plans allowing the upgrading to continue alongside investing in new COVID-19 safe measures across the hotel. The funds also supported the installation of new technology to allow virtual check-in and food ordering.

More than just a hotel

Dating back to 1840, the individually themed accommodation offers breath-taking panoramic views across the loch. Guests have the option of a private wooden lodge, a loch-side apartment, coach house, or can check into a luxurious room at the main hotel.

The entertainment isn’t lacking either - boredom doesn’t exist on this beautiful Loch vacation. Guests can enjoy coarse fishing (the Loch is the third largest freshwater loch in Scotland with a surface area of 24 square miles), climbing, hillwalking, bird watching, cycling and take a tour of the Loch Awe Castle. Complete with enchanting, tranquil villages and some of the West Highlands’ most impressive architecture, this hotel would make the perfect post-lockdown get away with something to offer for everyone.
