Craving some TLC? Uckfield’s leading beauty salon is open for business!

Led by two talented beauty entrepreneurs, sisters Emma-Jane Rudman and Amy-Lee Rudman, Salon1thirty4 is a vibrant unisex salon in the heart of Uckfield.

Following support from Let’s Do Business Finance, Emma and Amy-Lee’s life-long dream became a reality and their very own salon opened its doors for business in early 2019. The salon is now home to a team of skilled and passionate hair stylists, beauty therapists, nail technicians and a super-catchy playlist.

“Whether you are committed to the French tip, in need of a beard trim or have always wanted to try out beautiful lash extensions, then you will be pleased to know that our salon is the perfect destination.”

The sisters seized a prime opportunity to purchase an existing 12-year old Hairdressers in Uckfield High Street and introduce additional Nail and Beauty services. A salon that offers all three at a competitive price was hard to come by in the town before the launch of Salon1thirty4.

Now, the salon is hard to miss and hugely inviting to passers-by. Customers are drawn to a relaxing environment with extra-comfy sofas, bright, striking décor and a chilled space to chat, drink tea and escape from the stresses of everyday life.

We aim to keep our prices competitive and more accessible for the younger demographic in order to attract the up and coming clients of the future.

We would like to add even more services to gain a larger client base and become a premier hair and beauty salon in Uckfield.

We will be looking to offer educational training within the salon to other nail technicians, beauty therapists and hairdressers to help them to continue to skill-up and achieve their full potential.”

The sisters received a start-up loan for the purchase of the lease and to aid the refurbishment of Salon1thirty4’s first home.

Since the support from Let’s Do Business Finance, the premises have undergone a complete transformation - including new flooring, lighting, decoration, furniture and equipment. As a result, the salon is now a luxurious, unique and contemporary space as well as a source of employment for 9 members of staff.

I met with Emma Jane and Amy-Lee and was impressed with their energy and enthusiasm. With the support and commitment of their family they have taken over an existing business and added their own skills, abilities and drive and exceeded expected forecasts within three months of re-opening, a brilliant result for them.
