Let’s Do Business Finance to Deliver Surrey Decarbonisation Fund for Local SMEs

Let’s Do Business Finance is proud to announce that it has been selected as the official finance provider for Surrey County Council’s Business Decarbonisation Loan Programme, aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and charities reduce their carbon footprint and become more energy efficient. The fund will be available to eligible businesses operating in Guildford, Reigate and Banstead, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Waverley, and Woking.

The Business Decarbonisation Loan Programme offers loans ranging from £5,000 to £15,000, covering up to 50% of project costs for approved decarbonisation initiatives. With a total initial loan fund of £200,000, the programme is designed to support local businesses as they invest in more sustainable practices, cut energy costs, and reduce their environmental impact.

Eligible SMEs and charities will be able to apply for funding to support a wide range of decarbonisation projects, including but not limited to:

·         Business premises upgrades such as LED lighting, solar panels, insulation, and energy-efficient heating systems

·         Decarbonisation of business transport by switching to electric vehicles

·         Improvements in business practices, including energy-efficient equipment upgrades and waste management solutions

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the decarbonisation loan, businesses or charities must:

·         Have a trading address in one of the participating Surrey Boroughs

·         Have been operating in the UK for at least two years

·         Have a turnover of less than £44 million and fewer than 250 employees

·         Demonstrate the financial ability to repay the loan

·         Additional conditions include showing compliance with state aid restrictions and being able to outline viable decarbonisation projects.

How the Programme Works
Eligible businesses and charities must first complete an online decarbonisation assessment enquiry form.

A free business decarbonisation assessment will then be conducted by a specialist team, providing participants with a personalised report on potential projects.

Approved applicants will be invited to apply for funding through Let’s Do Business Finance, the loan management provider.

Loans will be disbursed upon Surrey County Council’s approval, with repayment terms lasting up to three years.

This fund is a game-changer for SMEs and charities looking to decarbonise but who may lack the upfront capital to make these critical changes. By providing low-interest loans, we are helping local organisations play their part in the fight against climate change while making their operations more efficient and resilient.
— Sean Dennis, Managing Director of Let’s Do Business Finance.
